'93 Speedo Issue

Postby matthewh » Thu Aug 06, 2015 6:34 pm

Having an odd issue with my speedo. If i let the truck sit for days at a time, when I jump in it and go, the speedo doesn't work, nothing, not the odometer either. After I drive say 10 miles, turn truck off, say at Carquest, come back out, works just fine. Once it works, works everytime, everyday till it sits for a period of time.
Just started doing it within the last month. Checked the VSS, connection is good and clean, no corrosion issues
Possible ground issue? The sitting makes me think it is, but unsure what powers the VSS, and which ground to look at first

Mine does this in cold temps. I bought a used speedo when it started and after checking everything else out.....2 or 3yrs ago. It hasn't died yet,so it stays.
I have cruise,it works when the speedo doesn't....so I think it's in the little electric motor driving the thing.
