a/c compressor battery drain

Postby brandonmgreer » Sun Dec 20, 2015 7:30 pm

Hey guys,

Had a battery drain issue, and thought the battery was toast. Come to find out, the a/c compressor clutch was staying engaged while the truck was off... I have no idea where to start on these trucks, but between this, and not getting the front end aligned right, I'm about to burn it to the ground!

Could this be the ecm, the capillary sensor, or a/c controls in the dash?

On the driver side inner fender panel there are three relays. The one closest to the hood hinge is the A/C relay. Replace it.

All of those relays are old enough to vote. I would replace all three and save yourself some hassle down the road.

I will do that, and get back on whether or not it fixes the problem.

Thanks, and Merry Christmas

Here's a pic of the part numbers you can use to cross reference at your local auto parts place.
You need one RY-129 and 2 RY-108's, these are Carquest numbers.
The far left box is the number for a crank sensor, not needed in this case, but i took the pic to send to a friend who needed these parts and couldn't find numbers for cross reference
