Door buzzer

Postby ND93W350 » Wed Mar 02, 2016 9:01 pm

Hello all just got my 1993 W350 pulled in the garage and the classic first gen door buzzer is not working. I've done some searching around the site and pulled the connection under the steering wheel like some people have said but everything looks good. I would like to have it working just as a reminder and I think it is actually pretty cool. Also I've read about the yellow box up under the ashtray area and haven't found mine yet, haven't really looked to hard I've searched the mopar number and they don't make them anymore so was sort of seeing what the site had to say about replacement part for it or if someone has one laying around? Also anything else it could be? Thanks I appreciate it

If you haven't found the buzzer under the radio/behind the ash tray, then it's long gone. It's rectangular, about 1"X1"x3". They are yellow or black.

I removed mine and tossed them, can't stand those buzzers. :D The three I removed were black.

My truck had a yellow one, with 2 buzzers in it. The one for the key suffered an untimely demise, but the one that tells me I left the lights on works great!

If your halo light is also not working but seatbelt buzzer is, then its likely the door switch is not grounding that wire. There is a separate wire for the dome so that may still work without affecting the buzzer/halo light. If I remember correctly, there's a single buzzer for key in and seat belt.

You can remove the switch by grabbing the flat end of the plunger with vise grips (lightly, gouging it will cause it to gouge your door) and unscrew the hex body with an open end wrench. By holding the plunger stationary, you will prevent twisting the wires to oblivion. After its out, clean the contact points with emery cloth. Ive fixed mine a few times this way.
