1st gen didn't have brake controllers or the harness for them. That started some where in the 2nd gen year ranges.

No write ups that I know of.

You will need a 20 amp power feed to the controller.

You need to run a wire to the rear of the truck for the trailer plug.

You need to tap into the output wire from the brake light switch.

Put your marker lights on a relay. Do not run the trailer markers off of the headlight switch. That burns the switch plug on our trucks.

Make sure you run a fuse or circuit breaker when pulling your power, I typically run a 10ga wire to the battery, and prefer a breaker to a fuse, but it's up to you. I also like to run my ground right to the battery as well.

Same for the wire to the rear, run 10ga, to keep the wire size the same, from the controller, as well as the trailer. You'll find the brake wire and power are 10ga, the other 2 are 12ga.

2nd gens didn't come 100% wired in till late 95. Just wired my plow truck, and while it had the relay in the underhood box, didn't have the under dash wire/plug to tap into like the later models years did. After a couple hours trying to test wires, I just ran a wire to the back and spliced into the factory plug for the brake wire, and ran power/ground off my battery. Truck is a early 95 V10
