Blower high side on a relay

Postby DodgeFreak » Thu Jun 23, 2016 11:12 pm

I was reading through Jim's.....forgot which jim...lane?? maybe. but anyways he ran 2 relays one to make the connection and one to break it. My question is do you really need two relays?? if it was going to back feed the system why not just install a one way diode and call it a day?? or two if you want one on the relay and the truck side.

I ran a diode on the relay side only and when you shut the key off it still back fed through the diode, so I added another diode to the truck side and it works like it should now. not sure how reliable it is but its working.

Not sure if Philip will see this but, Part of my blower not blowing enough air is that the airbox had leaks around the seams on the blower side, and around the outside of the box on the engine side....Filled them with silicone for now and it helped quite a bit but then I ran it on a relay which helped even more.

I ended up wiring in a second relay. The one way diode I had in between the blower and the relay got hot and started melting the heat shrink and it still shut off fine and everything with the diode in between the blower and the truck switch, but I didn't want to take any chances so I wired in the second relay according to Jims write up.
