Bosch Alternator AL6510N

Postby Collers9640 » Sat Apr 14, 2018 11:17 pm

Is anyone else using this alternator??? I just solve an electrical issue is was having.. and now I have another problem...
I installed a Bosch Alternator and used the Pulley off my old alternator and tossed the one that came on the Bosch. Only to find a 1 rib off my serpentine belt ground off. Apparently Bosch Alternators dont line up the same way as the
Densos do. To make matters worse I pretty certain I tossed the pulley that came on the Bosch but I don’t think it had enough groves anyhow.

So has anyone had this problem and does anyone know if there’s a pulley I can get to get things to line up?
Only idea I had was to grind down the case some to try and move it back some.

Did the alternator mount properly with no issues? It is a ridged mount system so shouldn't be a a problem with alignment. My guess is either you got the wrong alternator...but labeled correct...or the pulley swap was/is your issue. Could be a bad tensioner pulley, or water pump failing causing the belt to wander....happened to me recently as well.

The alternator is correct. To get the OEM pulley to work I’ll have to machine of a 1/16” off where the pulley makes contact with the shaft of the alternator

I think for the cost of an alternator (I replaced mine last week) I'd be taking that sucker back to the parts store and raising hell before I had to machine the shaft.

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.
