Where does this go? Alternator resistor

Postby Hatya » Sat Dec 08, 2018 8:00 am

I am doing a one wire alternator install on my 93 d350 and it came with this resistor.

I guess I’ve forgot to much In my old age, where does this go and why?

Last time I saw something like that was on an old point type voltage regulator.
RIP 91.5 W250 5 speed. The great experiment.

I've never heard of putting a resistor in with a 1 wire alternator. I would contact whoever you got it from and ask them.

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

The last one I did that required a resistor was putting a 3 wire ac delco on my farmall tractor. I thought the same Pete, the single wires went direct to the battery. Maybe the resistor keeps it from draining? I think a resistor only allows voltage or current to go in one direction? On edit, I think its a diode that does that, I have not hit the books for a while on electronics.

Richie, a resistor reduces voltage, and a diode lets current go only 1 way. Good save! ;)

Yup I knew that, but had to catch myself. I guess I put my fingers in gear before my brain.
