That's disturbing. Fuses and fusible links are always a good place to start when something like that happens.

I suppose the next thing to do might be test the starter itself. Have you jumped 12v straight to the solenoid?

Good for what?

:pottytrain:

If you don't have power to the ignition, it's gotta be a fusible link. No dash lights, radio, anything? Tell us what you do and don't have specifically, and we can look in the FSM and tell you which one to check.

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

Do the wipers work? If not, it's a fusible link for sure.
The fan works? That runs off the same link....... Check fuses with a test light, see if all have power. Some have constant, some keyed.

Man, this is strange. I reread the whole thread, and stuff gets power from 2 different sources, but you get power on some and not others.
Did you try cleaning the battery terminals good? and any plugs in the large red wires to the fender stuff? Try that next, it sounds like a bad connection more than a bad link.
Good Luck!

Suggestion

Postby opofus » Sat May 03, 2008 7:38 am

I had that happen on a honda accord. What I did was hook the cables up backwards, and I fried the battery, the aleternator, and the main fuse in the vehicle. After I replaced the main fuse and the battery, it started and ran. I found out about the alternator a few weeks later when the new battery ran down while I was driving.

Just a little more

Postby opofus » Sat May 03, 2008 7:40 am

It would not do anything until I changed out the battery, the battery was grounding itself out.
