Instrument cluster retrofit

Postby opofus » Thu May 01, 2008 7:26 pm

Has anyone attempted to retrofit a set of 2nd or 3rd gen instruments into a 1st gen?

If so, how difficult is it?

I was wondering more about the electrical side, getting all the gauges to communicate and function properly. There are various ways to get a clean look.

It can be done as I have seen a few 1st gen trucks with the entire 2nd gen dash in them. Just a matter of getting the wiring right.

are there any articles on how to do it. i think that would be awsome, a 2nd gen dash with the 3rd gen white faced guages. im putting 2nd gen seats in anyways.

This is the guy you want to talk to. http://ramchargercentral.com/index.php?topic=1151.0
About half way down the first page you'll see it. I know it's a ramcharger, but it's still a newer style dash. Maybe he can answer some questions.
