Getting new gauges together

Postby rbrettctd » Tue Aug 26, 2008 4:56 pm

For the quick reader: What resistance is the fuel gauge?
If I decide to replace the speedometer, do I just need a mechanical one and the right adaptor or what?

Well my cluster is taking a dive. My temp gauge has always been a lier, the voltmeter started twitching, the fuel gauge has a mind of its own, and my oil pressure likes to sit on the very bottom line....Im really hoping cuz of that last one that its the cluster dying.

So, Im gonna start gathering the pieces to do what Ive long wanted to do, and will take a while due to cost. Im gonna replace atleast the 4 outer ones with some Isspro gauges. Im debating leaving my center factory Speedometer/odometer, and building a bezel to surround it and house my 2" aux gauges. Basically it will be the speedo in the center, and a custom metal housing for 4 gauges on the left and 4 on the right.

Voltmeter Oil Pressure Water temperature Fuel Pressure

Speedometer

Fuel Gauge Pyrometer Boost Tachometer.

Whatcha think?

Will this speedo work if I decide to go that route?

Sounds like a good idea to me. I have considered it myself, but I dont seem to keep a pickup long enough to make it worth my while. I've had my D350 almost 3 years, and it's nearly a record.

I dont worry about the stock gauges too much. Keep an eye on my good gauges, and keep an ear out for lifter ticking- type noises, and all is good.

Ive had this rig for 5 years and counting, and no plans of ever selling it. If anything, making it a short bed.

This gauge plan will be a long time in the works. Ive got a rhino and a girlfriend with a birthday and 6month anniversary to spend money on for the next few months. Im hoping after the first of the year I can get back into the Dodge.

I had to read twice. Any time you have rhino and girlfriend in the same sentence you have to be careful.

I think it's ok, he had "and a" in the middle. ;)
I'd like to know how he snuck a Rhino out of the zoo? Does he use it to keep the neighbors off the yard? :?

I used the girlfriend to sneak the rhino out. She showed her puppies to the zookeeper and being an animal lover he was distracted so I could sneak the rhino out. Its great for keeping coyotes away from the cattle...though it did kill our best bull :?
