Square-wave tachometer signal

Postby Begle1 » Wed Nov 12, 2008 9:41 pm

I need a square wave RPM signal for my computer. The Autometer alternator tach is not a square wave.

Anybody know where I can get a kit to rig up to get a square wave? Doesn't Diprocal or somebody have a magnet/ Hall-effect switch unit?

Do a search for DC proximity switches. Look for something small in dia and three wire. Make a mounting bracket for it. Then glue a couple of magnets to the harmonic balencer.
