cruise control

went for a 300 mile round trip, and discovered my cruise is acting up. when i set it, it holds speed for maybe 10 seconds, then just keeps increasing speed! wtf? could it be my truck's lack of a tps? i removed it and installed a toggle switch for overdrive. so, do i need to spend $225 for cruise to function properly, or maybe the poitentiometer upgrade? sorry for the long post. thanks!
w250 518 auto, honed injectors, otherwise stock for now.

Mine did the same thing when I turned my pump up and took out the afc lever.
