Save the money and do it yourself. Tear it apart and look at it, then get a set of contacts and brushes, bushings, and what ever else, and do it. You can get larger contacts from LarryB. He advertises all over. You might only need contacts, but look at it 1st. I went and bought some, then it did the same thing. When I tore it apart farther I found the brushes were gone and so were the bushings. I just went to Pep Boys and bought one for $135 and called it good.
(i was a little PO'd by then ;) )

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

when the starter went on my 91, i put an advance reman on it to the tune of $160. then another one 3 months later under warranty. THEN i saw the LarryB website.

I was possibly even more PO'd than Pete.

Well I fought it all day and finaly found a ride to work. The guy I get alt. and starters rebuilt gave me the wrong starter today so when I get back in town I'm going to bring him back his starter and rebuild mine if I can find the parts. This is the first time he has ever done me wrong but I have just brought him starters and alternators for welding machines it was right. He even rebuilt the alternator that Im running now on this truck. Worst case senerio Ill take the starter off the w350 in my sig and go forward.
