I did a quick fuel filter change the other day (realized I hadn't changed it since I bought the truck ) and now the water in fuel light won’t go out. I cleaned out the censer at the bottom of the housing with break cleaner, but other than that everything was normal. What am I missing?

I've been told that if you over tighten the water in fuel (wif) sensor into the bottom of the fuel filter that it can cause the wif light to stay on .
Sold 91 now-intercooled W250, 388WHP 923WTQ on #2 only 423WHP 968WTQ on meth 0% correction.
