The new rig

Postby DieselSharker » Sat Aug 22, 2009 11:24 pm

Well, picked up the new-to-me 91 yesterday and I'm at my 2nd overnight stop before getting back to TX tomorrow. Here's the list of what's not working electrically: Dash lights/speedometer, cargo lights, interior light, p-brake light won't go off, wait to start light won't come on. Cig lighter doesn't work but I found the fuse is blown so hopefully that'll fix that when I get some tomorrow. Reverse light fuse was also blown...oops I didn't even notice. Also found an extra fuse seperate from the fuse block, not sure what it's for...everything aftermarket that's in the cab is working so I guess maybe I'll find out when I change it in the morning. Any ideas on any of this?

Also, it has 4.88:1 gears and the Gear Vendor with 37" tires. Top speed is about 80 in OD, only 55 w/out. Sound about right? Turbo only gets up to about 18 psi no matter what...from a standstill or when cruising. Is this because of the 16cm housing and the injectors?

I'd say check the fuses but it looks like you already did that. It is possible that the previous owner jacked with the wiring when he put the aftermarket stuff in. what aftermarket stuff are we talking about? Also it is pretty warm out, My wait to start light doesn't come on untill it gets colder. I haven't had it come on since probably April.

As far as interior stuff just gauges and a CD player and speakers. Plus the Gear Vendor controller.

Pulled the pump top today and found a power pin already in it...I'm guessing it already has a 366 spring even though I bought one for it.

I would be kind of scared to pull that dash apart. There are a lot of redneck ways to wire up aftermarket gauges and such.... I should know, They don't get too much more redneck than me!

I'm always scared to pull any dash apart. I am by no means a wiring expert. I can do just about everything else but I HATE wiring.

I'd say you probably need to change the headlight switch as well.
