skillet, yours is a good solution for a bench/auto truck, but i dont think it would work for a manual trans. i had my sirius mounted in a similar spot in my ramcharger, and had to mod the bracket to move the receiver over to the pass. side in my 5spd truck.

anyway, here are picks of my current setup. its out of the way, so much so that i dont use it. or maybe thats because i dont think it works correctly. maybe both?

oh ya, if you are gonna mount it to the roof, cut the fabric of the headliner (if you still have one) before you drill, otherwise the drill bit will grab, twist, and rip a huge chunk out. dont ask how i know...

Been there done that on the carpet when I put the ratchet shifter on my old truck. OOOOOOPS!

ya, it only takes once to learn that one....

a small slit will do, as long as there is enough room to clear the drill bit.

Skillet, I have 3 issues with that too. The shifter clearance like Jeff said. I don't have AC, so my airbox is shorter, and I hate drilling holes where they are easy to see. I like my mounts and wiring to be hidden and clean looking.

I wire-tied my ash tray shut and screwed it to the botom side of the ash tray door. A little redneck but with the 5 speed I can't do it like skilletky's

I'll see if I can get some pics soon

i didn't even think about if some one had a 5 speed truck and no a/c. that would pose a problem. the drilling holes thing where they could be seen was a problem with me too, but the previous owner had already drilled them there. the cb is covering up the other 4 holes that are there.

A little?

On the S10 I had, I pulled the ashtray out and mounted the CB right in the hole. It looked great and was handy too. That was a small radio though, not like the big one I have now.
I thought about putting it under the seat, since I don't change channels much.

When I figure it out, I'll post pics.

That speaker box looks good, great idea! Antenna works better up where it's not surrounded, but hey, it works, right? 8)
I'm still figuring where to put my radio. Along with the draw straw, fuel module alterations, some more wiring, and a bunch of other stuff that has to be done in 2 1/2 weeks. :(

All the time in commercial trucks. I have them in my dump trucks. Basically around here at least the cell phone has taken over for personal use. A few years ago everybody that plowed had them so they could call for help if they got stuck. I have 1 in my 89 but only because it was there when I bought it.
