Aftermarket guages

Postby 93DodgeCummins » Wed Dec 09, 2009 4:33 pm

Could anyone tell if Isspro guages or autometer are a better guage?

I've had no experience with Automater, but have seen more posts about pyro issues with the Autometer than with ISSPRO. I've never had much trouble, especially with the standard gauges. I've had the EV pyro with its amplifier box go skitzo on me when the voltage in the truck wasnt quite right, or a wire got a little loose.

That said, there are others who have had zero issues with their autometers, too. I think it's a matter of price and style, and which you prefer.

Isspro seems to be much more reliable than Autometer. My brothers '03 has Autometer gauges, and the pyro is messed up and I believe the tranny temp gauges is as well. All the Isspro gauges we've had in our truck have performed flawlessly. The customer service for Isspro alone would make me buy their product again. They have one of the best customer service departments in the business.

That being said, I would assume Autometer has some sort of warranty on their gauges, so if you like the Autometers better go ahead and buy them.

i've had both. my isspro pyro stopped working after about a year but i think it was where the box was mounted vibrated it to death. i've had no problems with the autometers (all 6 + tach) in the last 3 years. i can tell you the autometer pyro moves noticably faster than the isspro in the same truck. i don't know why it does, but it suprised me.

well :pottytrain: :dayum: :bh: i got autometer gauges. i thank my pyro gauge might be wrong. heres why, with my set up i only reach 32psi boost and 1,000f on egt's at WOT. i would thank with all the pump adjustments and larger injectors it would be hotter. but it could be i got the 62mm turbo and CAC. what do you guy's thank.

i guess i could get my temp gun for work but it will only tell me the surface temp.

32 psi should be a little hotter then that in my opinion. I like my autometers. The pryo is very quick.

I have a used ISSPRO tach on the left, an el cheapo brand trans temp gauge down on the floor and the rest Autometers in the middle, no problems with any of them going on four years. The main issue with the Autometer pyro is having a good ground. But then again, that is often the culprit with the majority of all electrical problems people experience. I think good installation is the key to reliable gauges. You can't really go wrong if you install it right:

i have AutoMeter pryo, tranny and boost gauges. all of them are great. my pyro started to flicker for a week or so and i checked all connections, the ground was not the best so i made everything good and tight and no problems so far. the previous owner installed them. they are going on 4 maybe more years now. soon i will be getting a fuel and oil pressure gauges. and they will definitely be AutoMeter"s

I know some Isspro gauges are assembled in India, but I believe the majority are made in the USA. As long as it works, I'm satisfied, whether it's made in America or India. ;)

Parker, you just wait till you need any customer support for Dell computers, Capital One credit cards, or any other dam company that has outsourced there call centers to India and then tell me how much you like that place. I can not understand what they are saying.
