speedometer dead

Postby 1dumrednek » Mon Dec 28, 2009 6:03 pm

i recently put a new clutch and rebuilt the tranny. ever since i put it back together, the speedometer doesnt work. the cconnector is hooked up. until last week it wouldnt move at all and now ita has started to twitch erratically. ive seen it hit 180 kmh and the truck wasnt moving  i unplugged the connector on the transfer case and it stopped twitching. where do i start?

sounds like a grounding issue to me check that you have your ground straps on and CLEAN along with the area it bolts to

Check the ground at the engine. The tranny might have been used as the grounding "strap" for the engine. Then again, other things would be acting up too....
