havent yet but am going to soon, my stereo needs another battery badly the subs will drop out if I have them pounding very hard. I have built a new tray and started on the install but now am getting a dealership for selling odyssey batteries and they have a model that I believe I can fit two batteries on the stock tray or just a bit bigger tray that I can bolt to the stocker. The batteries are 13" x 6.8" and 9.5 tall have 1150cca and are a dry cell type. I just have to get on the ball and get an isolator, well that and some dry weather.

EKK33 on here put 2 group 30 or 31's in his truck. Looked good too. He lowered the battery box mounting and put 2 trays side by side. Then put he batteries in. They sit 90* from stock.

I have one battery down close to the stock location, then I have another battery behind my seat in the cab. Both Optima Red-Tops.

The rear battery runs my stereo, my 2000 watt inverter and some other non-mission-critical applications. The front battery is all I need to drive safely in a pinch.

I have both batteries on an isolator, so I can run one all the rear one all the way down with the inverter and still start the truck, or if something goes wrong with the front battery I can swap it with the rear battery.

If I was building a vehicle with bulletproof reliability in mind, I would mount both batteries on a Perko battery selector switch like what boats use, so if one went bad I could just throw the switch and get on my way instead of having to swap the battery out manually.

If only I could figure out how to get the batteries to both regulate the same way through the isolator. I can't figure out for the life of me how to get them to both regulate the same. Currently, if the first battery becomes disconnected from the alternator, the alternator thinks it's not charging and charges the second battery to holy crap voltage.

I'd like to see those pics too! Have had a cold spell here in the Southeast for the last couple weeks. My truck hasn't started since. It's time to upgrade and two batteries would be the hot ticket.

Don't mind the wiring mess, that is still a work in process.

Or the lack of paint on the brackets

can we get some specs on the batteries? everyone i talk to about going to dual batteries say you have to get some crazy big alternator so you dont burn up the stock one. how does yous do? i really want to do this cause i have a plow that draws some amps and im going to have a rear back drag blade ran off of a electric hydraulic pump so im just wondering. thanks

I run 2 8D batteries in my boat and it has a 105 amp alternator ( delco ). I don't think there will be any issues with your stock alt charging 2 batteries of any sort.

Man, that's miserable. It's been around 5* here, and I can't stand it. I need to find a $500 beater Honda to drive around in the winter, or move somewhere warm. :D

Genos garge has some "bigger" starter contacts, the "new" starter you bought might have cheaper smaller contacts. I dont know from experiance, but I heard they make a difference.
