I like it. I'm just not sure about the calibration issue since it is picking up the signal from the alternator. Seems like you would need a crank tach to calibrate it.

Yup, photo tach is the best way.

No reason that won't work. I would use a photo tach to make sure it's right or to set it also. I'm sure there's a way to calibrate it once it's mounted.

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

I just thought it looked good, and should hook up easy. I have a hand held tach to shoot the crank with. Now if I only had the money.....

i've had the black version in my truck for several years now. works great. i used the drb 1 at the dealership to calibrate it. any optical tach will work for comparison. mine was off about 100 rpm across the board. neat thing was once it was calibrated, it was dead on match with the drb at idle and 2600 rpm and everything in between. good product.

btw, member here tomtom has that same silver tach in his and i dont think he's had any problems either

I've got the black style of this one. I used math, or the free internet calculator, where you enter in what your diff and trans gear ratio is, and tire size, it told me the rpm's i should be running at 55. test drove the truck locked up in 3rd, and calibrated it to my spec. has worked good ever since, looks real nice with a red LED light
