ISSPRO mechanical fuel pressure gauge

Postby dpuckett » Sat Feb 06, 2010 9:29 pm

To those of you who have one, is it super slow to respond? I got one used at what I thought was a good deal, but after hooking my boost guage in place of it yesterday, I'm beginning to wonder. The ISSPRO gauge takes at least 3-4minutes to get to 7-8psi (which is what my cheapo boost gauge says my Lucas piston pump puts out- adequate for my near stock engine), sometimes longer. It seems worse when cold. I was wondering if this is normal for the ISSPRO mechanical fuel pressure gauges, or if mine is defective? I have a snubber in line, hooked up to the banjo bolt post-filter. Turns out the gauge also has a restrictor built into it as well, so I am almost positive the pulsing of the pump(s) hasnt killed it.

Mine goes right up when truck is started. Have mine also hooked up post filter with a boost bolt and a pressure snubber.

Mine moves within a second of starting the engine. Take the snubber off. There is very little pulsing with the built in restricter the Isspro gage has.

I tryed a snubber when I installed the gage. It took forever to come up on pressure and was slow to respond after it came up.

I've got mine hooked to the regulator after the filter and its instant. Its also instant to "gurgle" if I get low on fuel and the pump sucks some air.

Took out the snubber, and while it isnt AS slow, it is still slow. Think I'll send ISSPRO an email and see what they say as far as repair cost and such. If it's more than about $20, I'll probably just pass it on to someone in the Troll Den.

Finally got around to calling ISSPRO and talked to Don. He said the gauge is probably bad, and it'd be best to just get a new one. Fortunately, I have a $10 VDO "boost" gauge I can use for the time. Lesson learned- buy fuel pressure gauges new.
