1991 was the first year with a PCM computer. All 1 gen diesels had an ABS xomputer box/electronics, but it is easily disabled if desired.

KTA, doesn't the computer just run the cruise control and the alternator output?

the pcm uses sensor input to control the cruise, alternator, and a/c compressor. it also controls grid heaters and i think it supplies the voltage to the ksb and shutoff solenoid. i eventually plan to remove mine totally and rewire, but thats a ways off

daryl

p.s. the pcm no longer controls my alternator.

I just took mine out. It's pretty straightforward on the 91.5 w/o cruise.

As far as I can tell, the 91.5 PCM works cruise, OD, grids, KSB, and grounds the speedo. That's it. It's probably the exact same PCM as on the 92-3, they just hadn't yet got around to implementing the VR and whatever else like KTA mentions, gauges.
