No spark on my 92 cummins, coil???

Postby dodgetkboy78 » Sun Mar 14, 2010 12:13 pm

Now that I got your attention. HAHAHAHA :P :alien: The responses should be good.....

I have a tach for my 92, an ISSPRO, and a crank sensor pickup coil thingie... Isn't there a wire somewhere on the IC trucks to hook a tack up? Or do I need the sensor???

Not sure why I need it, other than I have it.

INTERCOOLED does NOT apply as my 91.5 does not have this connector. Keywords are "voltage regulator on firewall" do not have this harness provision.

OK, now, I hooked it up, Ground to -, power to the + on the other side of the resistor thing, and the white signal wire to the S, and the tach dont work. Anyone know where the signal wire gets it's signal??? Or any tricks? Maybe I do need to just use the sensor....... IDK

The OEM factory tachometer plug offers the following:

- 18ga Black = +12vdc for gage lights [I believe it is fed from the light switch]
- 20ga Orange = 12vdc Common
- 18ga Red = Switched +12vdc
- 20ga Grey w/light blue tracer = Tachometer Signal From PCM

It's hooked up right, how do youtest the signal? I'm not sure I'm getting one.

What model isspro did you buy? I'm having the exact same problem. :bh:

I bought the pickup kit also, I'm just not looking forward to gluing tiny magnets to the balancer and mounting another pickup.

If you have a 92 or 93, ISSPRO sells an adaptor kit with the tach to use the OEM pickup signal. There is a diode or something in the ISSPRO harness that does something to the signal.

Some ISSPRO gauges dont need the harness- if you have a flat faced gauge, you need it; if it's a bubble faced gauge, you dont. Or that's what I've gathered in my readings.

Why does the manual mention a red wire, when there is none?
