Oil Pressure Guage

Postby Kebo » Tue Mar 23, 2010 8:49 pm

The guage on my dash is reading variable. Sometimes it will say it's getting pressure at idle, but not when the engine is turning any sort of RPMs and other times it's the other way around. I'm assuming this is an electrical issue because of the variable pressure and the inconsistency. Any ideas?

sending units are notorious for being faulty, i would recomend replacing with cummins unit. or could plumb in a muchanical gauge and see if its telling the truth

It's probably the sensor. I had an issue where after changing my oil and fuel filter my gauge was reading no pressure and after some testing we noticed even the slightest bump against the sensor causes it to mess up.
