hate to say it but it sounds like a pcm problem.

check the alternator by grounding a wire to one of the field terminals on the back. should go to full charge (over 16 volts!!).

check crank sensor signal and wiring. if pcm sees no crank signal it will not energize the alternator.

I just went to pick up a alternator and a peiece of paper stated to check to seee if it is the sensor try the cruise control and or the a/c. if they work then it is not the pcm,, so they say--- new to this.. i think I found my problem i hope it is a short in 5th wheel wireing. which I found. will check tomorrow it is getting dark.

help

Postby sid » Sun Jul 29, 2007 5:00 pm

Alt guage is reading last line to the left, not the extreme line next to the 8.
alt was tested to be good. I turn the lights on and gauge drops a little same goes for the AC. If i continue to drive it the battery goes dead. could it be a short? is there a way to test the PCM. where is the PCM. And, is there a way to check for shorts???
Sorry for the dumb questions

Pcm is located in the fender, drivers side forward.

Have no clue on testing......try googling it. I know that mine was dead when I found out I had no lights, no cruise, no radio.....went to a wrecking yard and found one out of a '92
