Cleaning dirty A/C parts?

Postby Mark Nixon » Mon Apr 26, 2010 7:42 am

I am by no means an A/C person, usually if it don't work, I live with it, but....

I have a nice set of lines and a condensor, but they have laid around getting dusty and grungy, so I was wondering if this stuff is safe to pressure washer out, or is there a chemical or procedure to clean them?

Also, on the multiple embossed/painted tin gaskets in these systems, are they re-usable, or do I just try the parts store to get replacements?
I know the standard is to simply replace the receiver/dryer when a system has been inoperative for any length of time, or when switching freon types, I can live with that.

Mark.

Most part stores sell an ac flush. I wouldn't use any thing else because you could contaminate the oil in there. If its been open for awhile then u may need to flush all of it. Another thing u might as well replace the expansion valve as they tend to stick. Stuck valve=no cool air.
