2nd / 3rd gen bed swap

Has anyone toyed with the idea of putting a second or third gen bed on? My room mate was trying to convince me that the body lines would match up on a second gen bed. I did a quick photo-chop and it looked like the bottom one might but then I would have bunch of body work to get rid of the top line. As I was driving today a noticed a 3rd gen and they only have one body line. Ive searched high and low to try and find pictures of this but cant find anything.

Any ideas or anyone know of someone doing this? I need a new bed mine has a huge dent beyond repair, and I figured this would be cool as well as increase my chance of finding a good condition box.

I've seen a 2gen drw bed on a 1st gen. It was terrible.

Saw this pic online before and saved it for just this occasion.
I'd much rather have a good flatbed!

I have a 2nd gen body for a ton truck and if the rear fenders were not junk I would chuck it on my 92 in a heartbeat. I would fill the body line on the bed though.

The truck in AHinemans post doesn't look too bad. Maybe because of the color scheme or the angle of the pic. I've seen 2nd gen boxes on 1st gens before and they looked like siht!

i think i may try it if i find a second gen bed for cheap, as I am gonna repaint at the same time. If i do it will be sure to post pictures for everyone see.

i think that white truck looks killer....yeah the top line is a bit off but the dually fender makes up for it

If you put side trim over the body line and on down the truck it would look great.

im surpries the cab/ bed line is so similar, ive always liked the look of those 2nd gen dually fenders.


speaking of single cab dually trucks...is yours finished yet Dar?....if it is could you post a pic?...please?

There's one 30 minutes from my house a red one with duals on the back looks sweet.
