Power windows to cranks.

Postby MMiller » Fri Apr 22, 2011 3:33 pm

Can I take the power window motors off a 90 dodge and put window cranks in, without changing the doors? I'm sure that I'll need to change the door panels, but can I keep the doors. I'm sure the owner will be ok with window cranks, instead of spending more money on power windows for a farm truck(its pretty rough), but it will be a no go if we have to change the doors. He won't like mismatched paint......Thanks guys.

Yes you can change the inner guts of the doors. Whats wrong with the power stuff?

The truck has two inoperable power windows, and the A/C is not working. Two years ago I got the drivers window working by replacing the window motor. I took the motor off today and it still works both directions, but does not move the window. With the motor off I can move the window up and down pretty easy. Its an old guy's truck, the box is pretty beat, and he only uses it for farm work. I have a truck that has window cranks, I thought about putting the window crank stuff on his truck. I plan on putting a different cab, doors on my other truck anyway.

Yep, fairly easy to swap the cranky stuff over.

Why haven't we seen pics of this crew cab you put together?

Prolly because I did not put it together.......Bill hooked me up with guy that had the truck for sale in Kentucky last summer. Its a pretty solid crew that the previous owner put a Cummins/auto in. I picked it up way cheaper then I could have done the conversion. Heck, I have a hard time finding donor trucks for what I paid for the crew. I do have a 2wd Getrag, and a Dana 80-3.55LS waiting to go in this summer. I just really don't like the auto in it. In fact, this is the only pic I have it so far.....http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee4 ... torage.jpg
