Water leaking into cab?

Postby Ironforger » Sat Jul 23, 2011 11:40 am

Ok,a while back I noticed dampness in the jute padding under the floor mat. Took all the floor mats/padding out to dry. Luckily I caught this in time before it started rusting, yes this truck IS rust free and I'd really like to keep it this way.

So I def gotta resolve this water leak issue before I put the padding back in. Driving me crazy, can't figure out where it's coming from. At least 3 sources it appears. When it rains, water drips down from somewhere up in the columns behind seats where the seat belt rolls up. Sliding rear window? Drip check sealer on roof? I sealed the gasket on the center cab brake light, didnt make any difference. Should I get a new window or window gasket?

Also drips in the front somewhere near where the floor meets the verticle plastic panel near your feet on both passenger and drivers side. Should I take out windshield and install new gasket & urethane? Or is it somewhere in the cowl?

Has anyone hammered this out & completely resolved water leak issues?

Thanks!

Cabs have a tendency of leaking around the windshield.

Cracked cowls are extremely common in our trucks, so I'd take a look there.
