Rim's : choices, choices

Postby ericyr6 » Tue Aug 16, 2011 6:49 am

I'm looking to put a new set of rims on my '92. I've narrowed it down to Mickey Thompson Classic II's or Eagle Alloy series 186. I'm looking at 16x8

The M/T's have -11mm offset

The Eagles have -5mm offset

(The M/T's will stick out further)

Any of you have pics of these on your first Gen?

Any suggestions on to which would look better? I'm a leaning towards the eagle's since they're made in the USA.

One thing to consider when going to aluminum rims is to make sure that you gots enough wheel stud length. When I upgraded to 9/16" studs, I also went with aluminum wheels, old school american racing 16x7s', and they were a bit too thick for my liking as only about 1/2" of the threads were being grabbed by the lug nuts. Back in the day I use to work at a large tire shop, and we sold the heck out of the Eagle's, they look pretty good on these trucks, but so do the Mickeys'. Mickeys' have steel nut inserts while Eagles don't. my $.02 ;)
