do you have any finished pics of the truck? i am thinking about doing a similar build on my 1st gen, and was wondering what the end result was.

It sure looks a LOT better in paint.
DO get us pics when it's done, which I'm sure you intend to, anyway. : :D

Yep painted it myself in the garage. (destroyed the garage) The paint was some low cost base/clear. The floor and inner walls are just some valspar primer. The inner bed is getting line x coated. They told me not to bother with color/ clear.

The gun is a "husky" from home depot. gun pressure is 45psi. The only water trap was the one on the compressor. Any reason you wanted the specs? I went as cheap as I could. I saw the pics of yours and really like it. I wish mine was an ext cab. You wouldn't be willing to sell your box side trim would you?

I used the exact same setup, just got a little orange peel on the cab of the truck, and was wondering if I got water in the tank, or just sucked painting the cab

And I may want to sell that trim on the side, i was actually trying to decide that tonight, if I do, ill give you first option

Just gotta say, this build has inspired me, and i believe that i am gonna put a looooong box on my truck, but i will change some stuff. also what size are your wheels and tires? are they 22.5 or 19.5?

thanks and that truck is beautiful.

The truck is for the most part back together now. I'll take a few pics soon. I still need some side mldgs for the box(if anyone has any, let me know) And the side steps need to be installed. Thanks for the compliment! Oh, they're 19.5s.

Well not electronically, more electrically. I removed the stepper motor from the turbo, mounted a gear reduced DC reverseable motor, and control the turbine with a switch on the dash. I dont really use it as most guys try to. I set it to a position that works for what I'm doing at the time, and forget about it. Towing, city driving, freeway driving, etc... The way I use it is more like selecting a fixed housing, except I dont need a wrench to do it ;) I cant imagine a better set up for my truck. I love this turbo. I can sit at a stop light and make it sound like a jet at idle. I can close it down on cold days and warm up the engine faster. I can tune the egts on heavy towing. I haven't found anything I don't like about it(aside from mounting it)

Very interesting. i like that idea, it seems like it would give more control of the turbo than the other ways i have seen it done. OK well i'm done derailing your thread, back to the box. I am now thinking about taking an 8ft bed and mounting it, then taking a section from the front of another bed and welding it to the front of the 1st one, giving me a 2ft box in the front, which would then be used as a toolbox. I would fabricate some kind of lid for it.

Heres a few pics. I still need to get the steps in, rear bumper on, tailgate trim on, and I'm still in need of body side moldings. If anyone has these, help!
