tire clearance

Postby sb91ctd » Sun Oct 16, 2011 12:04 pm

Anyone know what type of lift ill need to clear 33x12.50's or 285.75's? Id like to run 3rd gen wheels with this combo. I do need new body mounts anyway and someone told me that with a small body lift would in a sence replace the need for new body mounts......correct me if im wrong im not sure if it works that way or not. On top of that all my searches have came up empty trying to find one for a 91w250. any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve

If you do a body lift you will need to run a borgons shaft with the universals on both sides. The normal shafts bind on the last two W150's I put body lifts on.

I am running 285's on stock wheels, it only rubs at full lock. I have had body lifts on some of my trucks throughout the years, and I am not a fan of them. For the cost and hassle with them, you could pick up a set of front 2" springs and new shocks for a little more $$$. That's if you want no rubbing. To also add to what dazedandconfused said, your gonna have to do something with your fan shroud too as the radiator is gonna be moved up some, and the fan is gonna be in the original place. So, in the long run, doing a body lift could end up costing the same as a spring lift. Or.....another option, just trim the fenders ever so slightly. Mask off a nice, smooth line, sawzall it off, and roll the edge. Unless someone has a keen eye, its barely noticeable ;)

I have good front springs (positive arch still) and great body mounts. The 33x12.5x16.5 I have rub on a 3/4 turn and flexing of the front axle.

amazing light pole position, lol and running electric fans puts extra load on our already struggling charging system, but it def can be done
