Carefully  Does yours have a "chrome" strip up top and the black rubber/plastic-ish on bottom? I took mine off with a big flat head screw driver. My paint is about a -3/10 so I wasn't too careful, but if you put a shop rag between the paint and the screw driver, you should be fine. It's little plastic clips that are brittle as can be that hold the trim on. I managed to keep most of mine intact. Just take your time and be careful

Sounds good. Just the pieces that go over fender wells and along the body. Thanks

A bondo spreader will work way better and much safer than a screwdriver. Also, if you have access to a heat gun, it will help loosen up the glue.

Since it appears you are working on an '89, those chrome moldings come off by pushing UP on the trim, then using something to pry the top away from the body.

Once they are removed, it's plainly evident why you must push them up, as the clips have 2 little barbs that act as "tensioners" once the trim is in place.

These clips were used on the '81-'90 lower body trim AND the higher class tailgate trim panel (Royal, LE, etc.), also used from '81-'90.
They may also have been used on the lower body moldings found on '72-'80, which had NO vinyl impact strip glued to them, but I have not verified this, as yet.

I guess my point is, if you break the clips, they are a popular application.

Mark.
