Getting the A/C working

Postby JustinRhodes » Sat May 26, 2012 6:12 pm

What are some things that I should replace while I have it all apart trying to get it working? Truck was factory A/C but the compressor has never been on the truck since I have had it. It still has everything as far as I know besides the A/C compressor.

Replace the drier, it's probably no good now since the compressor was off.

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

Expansion valve/h-block thingy wouldn't be a bad idea either.

Yep, more than likely seized, stuck after setting idle. As Mr Toombs suggested the dryer will definitely need to be changed because of a desecant bag in there that's suppose to take out moisture in the system.
If the lines have been open for a long time,it might pay in the long run to run some a/c flush thru the entire system. To push out any kind of debris that has found a home there

So compressor, lines, dryer, expansion block, and a flush. Anyone think of anything else? I'd rather only have to do it once.

Evaporator core in the dash if you are replacing everything.

Aint no way I'd replace all that  I'd try it first with the three major things with the rest flushed. Freon is cheaper than the other parts ;)
