Blue LEDs and guage refurbish

Postby azsnow » Tue Sep 11, 2012 10:13 pm

So I searched the junkyards around here and found a HVAC cluster from an Imperial, and installed some blue LEDs.

Thanks, the next thing is to figure out how to get the green backlighting out of the headlight switch. I cant figure out how to get the filter out without breaking it! Maybe I will just need to buy a high powered blue LED that will overide most of the Green.

I used the LEDs from www.superbrightleds.com and took out the green filters. If you use blue LEDs, they will overpower the green backlighting built into the temp controls and the headlight switch. I am not sure about what other colors will show up as. Without the green filters in the guage cluster, you can change those to any color they have available. I bought the brightest available, just make sure they have a 360 degree display of light or it may be dim with dark spots. I also just replaced every other light in the truck with LEDs, and its awesome...just had to find the ones I liked via trial and error...and money! LOL!
