X 2! I like stacks, but a fat one like that will billow the soot all over the truck. A taller, smaller diameter one would be better, but it will still soot the truck.

DO NOT DO IT!!!!!! Like they said, it will ruin that paint. I have the same stack in mine, and it ruined my nice paint(ha ha) if you do decide to do it anyways, raise the stack up to where the very tip is about 1 inch to 1.5 inches above the cab. A lot quiter ride in the cab.

If you like to ride with your windows down it will ruin the interior to. I still have black stains alover the seats and carpet in my second gen. Love the way they sound but i believe you will be much more satisfied with a regular exhaust.

At today's prices it will cost you over $2,000 on average here locally to PROPERLY repair the holes that you will have when you outgrow this notion. 2K includes removing the bed, finding a replacement bed donor, cutting the floor sections from the donor, prepping the panels, PROPERLY grafting then into your bed and a repaint of the bed interior. Of course as an alternative you could just take 2 tar bucket metal lids and put them in with sheet metal screws and throw a bed liner over top of it.

In the past I have personally passed up a real nice 4x4 5 speed 92 club cab for around $3,000 because of the two large 12 inch holes in the front of the bed where the previous owner had stacks.

My point of view is if you have a "beater" then it doesn't matter; If you have a "keeper" then be prepared to spend some big bucks to fix it when the noise and soot move down on your priority list of things in your life.

^What he said.

Now, I would do 4" all the way back to a 5" turn down.

In certain states (Indiana) if you have a stack you MUST have 10 wheels on your truck, an engine of 9 or more liters, and a transmission with 10 or more speeds. Violators can be fined $10,000 and/or serve 10 years in jail. It's state law, I swear. The government is cracking down.

It doesn't apply if you have Antique/Classic plates.

That law is wishful thinking on my part. Stacks are yet another fad that I can't wait until it disappears along with Fummins conversions and and the diesel fad in general. Just remember kids, diesel pick-ups are NOT cool. I wanted a diesel truck since '01 and once I had the means to finance one (i.e. a job and a driver's license), I bought one.

I'll step off of my soap box now.

I had stacks on my 97. Didn't have them to be "cool". I could give a damn about that. I just love the sound of them. Especially when pulling a trailer. :D

Only time I had soot on my truck, was when it rained, and it got in the stacks. If your paint is smooth or waxed up good, it washes off easy enough.
