CC Conversion

Postby cumminsgirl » Fri Feb 15, 2013 10:21 pm

Contemplating converting the ext cab to a crew cab. I've thought about just selling what I've got, it'd be a lot easier in the long run but since when do I ever go the easy route Lol

Anyone done this and have suggestions for me? (or more like what not to do) I love my truck, but I miss having a functional back seat and doors. While it's tore down Id like to apply some air ride as well to help smooth out the ride a bit.

if you do this you will have to butcher the floor board on the back side unless you go with a body lift look arfound and just find you a crewcab much easier to do My truck took 16 day's to put together so it can be done fairly simple . Feel free to PM me if you want a bunch of Pick's of a Crewcab build .

Why not stretch the frame instead of chopping the floor?

Well the orginl plan was to add to the frame. I'm having a hard time finding a cab or a donor truck at the moment around me that's not totally jacked up with rust and dents
I guess my initial thought was itd be a lot cheaper to just find a cab for it

I put a crew cab on a std. cab frame... the easiest thing is to just do a 3" body lift.

I had to run a 3" body lift for the RC to fit on the shortened std. cab frame as well.

One question I did have is
Will the body lines match from a 70s model or should I find an 80s
My ext cab is a 93

Use an 80s.... to match the 80-90s bed

70s and 80s cabs, rear doors, and door panels are all the same. The front doors determine the body lines that match the bed and fenders.

Ya, but if you put on a 70s cab it won't match the 80s bed

edit - * but you could use a 70s cab, and just put on the 80s fenders, and 80s front doors.... the 80s and 70s rear doors are the same.

Why wont it? Use the newer front doors and the body lines are the same. The rear doors are the same from 70's and 80's trucks.
