Can you get trim for these trucks?

Postby The_Head » Sun Mar 24, 2013 2:33 pm

This is for my brother. He bought my pop's old '92 and is restoring it. He had it repainted. He's been looking for replacement trim (It's an LE) and has had no luck at all. I guess he's run into a few guys online that have NOS stuff, but they want a fortune for it.

So, can you get remanufactured trim for these bad boys, or are we out of luck? I wouldn't mind doing the trim on mine if it wasn't too much money.

Are you talking about the stick on moulding that runs the length of the truck? If so, we are kind of S.O.L. on that. There is stuff that is kind of similar to it, but there really isn't much out there. On my 92 I had, I stripped the chrome stripe off the moulding, masked around it and sprayed it with spray on bedliner. Turned out pretty well. But if ya'll gots to have OE, best of luck finding it or pay for it if you find some new or really good stuff :thumright:

Yeah, I'm talking about the little piece on the fender, the big piece that runs the length of the door, than that tiny 2" piece that goes on the cab to the rear of the door. Sounds like we are on the same page.

Yup, that's them. The peices that are on the leading edge of the fender and behind the doors are actually plastic, the rest are that rubberized stuff....

Good Frigging Luck!
I've gone through a LOT of these trucks and just finding the fender and cab pieces that aren't lifted in the chrome places is next to impossible.
There's some rolls of molding trim out there that is close to the longer pieces, but for the bolt on pieces I mentioned, you're likely SOL.

Well darn it. I think the hoarders wanted over $1000 for a NOS complete trim set.

Ah well, he'll figure something out.

Speaking of "hoarders", I need to Ebay some of my more worthless junk and see what it is really "worth".

What IS an extremely low miles (3,000) 1993 LE steering wheel worth?
How about a passenger's side '81-'85 NOS parklamp assembly?
A NEW lower shifter boot for a getrag?
Original tin slave cylinder gravel guard from a Getrag truck (ever SEEN one)?
Nice OEM shifter boots and trim ring for an NV4500 in a 1stgen?

Hey not sure if your lookin for bed trim for a dually or not, but the new box i picked up has good trim on it. I plan on removing it. The chrome isnt lifting and the black is good shape. Let me know if anyone wants it and ill save it.
