Better off to find a complete decent top and replace it. Those little spots you see are the tip of the rustberg, there may be nothing left up there. If you do decide to fix it, weld in a patch and bondo is your friend. ;)

If you are anywhere but the desert southwest, I say find a whole new cab. BTDT. You'll just uncover the next spot and the next...

Yeah the top can come off.....as I've been told you dig the hucky pucky out of the drip rail and the seems around the back. Supposedly there's spot welds to remove. As I've yet to do mine this is all hear say to me.

My old cab was rotted on the bottom, and I gave the top to a young guy who needed a top. He cut mine off at the bottom of the pillars, I kinda think that's where he was going to graft it on to his cab the way he was talking.

Amen. Did the front corners of my cab a little while back, and just did an 8" section at the middle rear( a few inches above the cargo light) this past week. A cutoff wheel, aluminum grill grate, Bondo fiberglass jelly, Bondo body filler, and Bud lite are your friend. ;)

All it takes is time patience a little money a lot of reading and a lot more time. I would try to find the spot welds along the seam. If you do cut the pillars make sure you keep it really cool. You don't want anything to warp. Its gonna be hell enough trying to line the top up. If I do any cutting with a cutoff wheel or anything that's gonna heat up I keep an air gun next to me and blow it cool about every 10 seconds. Same goes with welding but after every second. If you find a cab top I would cut it off at the pillars to start with then if you screw up trying to take it off at the seam you have a back up plan. Just my opinion
