3RD gen seats

Postby DodgeFreak » Thu Dec 19, 2013 9:30 pm

Has anyone put 3rd gen seats in their truck??? I bought my dads crew cab and he had 3rd gen seats he said I could have and I'm thinking about trying to install them. Wondering if its similar to the 2nd gen seats. The ones I have are power also I believe.

Dad traded a .44 special for them. I'll have to try it out once I get another vehicle up and running. I traded my other car off so the Crew cabs all I have to drive lol.

I got my leather 3rd gen seat for $300. Right place at the right time. It takes some creativity, as the 3G floor pan is flat, ours arent. The newer trucks also have totally different mounting brackets. Nothing a grinder and welder cant solve.

How'd you mount yours Dpuckett?? I'm thinking I'm just going to mount each side separately instead of making a bracket clear across the floor like I've seen done. Heres pictures ( I haven't got the mounting brackets made yet.)

Personally i find 3rd gen seats to be uncomfortable. I purchased a 40/20/40 seat from an 06 chev and they are more comfy than 3rd gens. I haven't installed them yet as they require some creativity aswell.

The 3rd gen seats are better than the cracked vinyl seat that was in it lol. I got them bolted in and I just bolted the oem seat belts to the rear seat mounting hole. I'm horrible at remembering to take pictures so you'll just get a before and after lol....

for the mounts I took 2" angle iron 15 1\4 " long and stuck it in a vice and bent it even more to fit the angle of the front seat mounts. then I took 2" flat steel 22 1\4" long drilled my holes and then welded the flat to the angle drilled the holes to go through the floor and bolted it together. What I failed to see is that there is a hump where the crewcab mounts with the reg cab floor line....I just bent the mount and drilled my holes..lol It works. power seat is all wired.

I just need to get the rear seat in and get my power doors on the front so I don't have painted door panels lol.
