Door shells

Postby Firstgen11 » Tue Dec 30, 2014 10:07 am

I just ordered two new door shells and I'm wondering do they come ready to bolt up with the hinder part inside and just put the guts in for window guides and stuff in or do you have to order the part that the screws from the hinge on the cab go into also and weld in?

Usually there bare shells. You have to swap all the window, latch, lock and electric stuff over. Depending on your mirror, you may have to drill some holes as well. Last door shell I got was for the small chrome power mirrors, and we had to fill holes and drill for the large towing setup

The aftermarket door shells suck! Mine will be going in the scrap pile when I get the time to work on my other door.

The metals thinner than stock, body lines don't match up, poorly built, at least the ones I've used

Thin metal that vibrates going down the toad from the mirror, poor stping where nothing matches up. I have a 1/8" gap between the gasket and door when adjusted to match body lines. Finally just filled door seal gasket with silicone and pushed door in as far as it would go to seal it up some. It still whistles like a mother going down the road.
