If the speedometer is still functional, then it's probably a problem in the instrument panel.

The odometer stopped in my 91 at around 135k miles. I pulled the cluster out and took the motor off the back of the speedo. There is a 16-tooth and I believe a 32-tooth gear. The smaller (16-tooth) gear was the culprit on mine. Bought a new gear and it's good as new! There are a lot of small parts and screws so be careful not to break anything in there. Odometergears.com is where I got my gear. Cost $25. Hope this helps.

Just changed mine out this morning - small gear was missing a couple teeth.

Picked up the small 16 tooth and the large 20 tooth for $25 shipped for both, from Kerry Conklin of LAspeedometergear.com

He sent up graphite impregnated Delrin gears (the large gear is part of the grooved pod disc instead of being 2 piece).

I replaced both gears - no filing or fit issues - spun freely off the cluster & works like a charm.
