i personnally think west coast style mirrors are the best for towing but man are they ugly on an unloaded truck.

when i see a dually with the big mirrors and no load i think to myself, "i bet that thing tows nice". just like when i see a tractor w/o the trailer behind it. but, when i see a dually with the small mirrors i say to myself, "wtf was chrysler thinking?" seems like a mistake to me. the small sport mirrors are for half ton trucks, and maybe the 3/4 tons. all the one tons, especially the dually's, should come with mirrors on them. (in my mind). race trucks should not have mirrors. tow trucks should...thats how i see it

Mine came with little 4x5 car mirrors. My cousin ordered it with no frills. Radio delete, (right Daryl? ), rubber mats, no power anything, no A/C. These are what I put on. With the wide one on the right I can see the rear of my 25 ft gooseneck trailer. ;)

does look good

like i was saying tho...when you have something that big back there you dont really care what it looks like as long as you can see!

the back of my trailer is almost 36' back from my bumper and the bumper is how far back from the mirrors on a ex cab long bed?

i've added the slide out heads on my stock mirrors and they do just fine. i havent seen too many 1st gens with true west coast style mirrors (brackets mount above and below the window ) but they're a little overkill. seen plenty of 2nd gens with them but they're ugly enough it doesn't matter  .

pete, those exposed rear wheels look like a busted back window waiting to happen.

um, no those aint west coast mirrors. that may be from a company called west coast, but not even close

think class 8, 18 wheeler style. on a pickup. there is no better mirror setup for vision, they just look like a jungle-jim on the side of the truck

geez, i was just screwin around...

those mirrors on my R/T are from stillen (so cal aftermarket truck stuff co)

i like the ones you are referring to

like em a lot

might even be able to see back of trailer?

and...

being that i am 6'2" n change, and now that i have a ex cab, i drive with the seat more relined then most, i could position them on the door a little further back then the stock ones

would work great - IF they make em with the brackets shorter on the bottom then the top???

if not the mirrors wouldnt be vertical, they would be on a angle (like my door is)

Daryl, I have a flat bed on it now, but that would be a good excuse for a slider. ;)
Don, just 'cause the S10's mirrors are in California, I don't think they are "west coast" mirrors!

on the pickups with those style mirrors ive driven empty and pulling trailers, between the big stand up mirror and the 6" round spot, i've never noticed a blind spot on either side. now on a 75' 18 wheeler someone can tuck up next to you and hide

sorry Don, sometimes your sarcasm is so subtle i cant tell if your serious or not. btw, put a 4bt in that dakota and people will stop callin it a s-10 :P
