Got The 89 Painted

Postby RSWORDS » Fri Aug 22, 2008 8:47 am

The guys that painted it for me told me on the phone it looked horrible... Well I guess to them it does but to me it is AWESOME!!! I bought them some cheap @ss Dupla-Color pre mix stuff and it just does not laydown that mirror/flawless like the paint they use on their $8000-$15000 custom Hotrods paint jobs they are used to doing. Who would have guessed :D They are gonna wetsand then buff it out today... Any way here are some pics!

There is a run in this pic that they are sanding out as we speak... You can kinda see how the paint is not that mirror smooth finish you would expect from a $10000 paint job... I have about $300 in this... Including the body work they did...

Great improvement over this!!!

L&N Performance is getting me some decals made up... Gonna stick these on the doors like the 2nd Gens and add a black pin stripe, remove the badges on the fender paint the wheels black and black out the windows.

you should have removed the fender emblems before paint. now you're gonna have holes that could have been filled in. looks good otherwise. wish i could find a $300 paintjob.

Yeah The Guy Did take them off to paint it... Didn't decide to leave them off till he was done. He said bring it back and he can fill them and paint over it.

Nice! It's sure white! I'll haveta get a pic of mine up. I had bugs, 2 runs, and all kinda crap in it. Screw it, it's a truck! You can't see a bug at 100mph thru the smoke anyways!

It's not a 2500 though. ;)

I never noticed that the rear axle pushes that far forward while pulling. Almost rubbing fenders. Ouch!

The truck has a Dump Bed on it. The bed is 3 or 4 inches back from stock.

2 things that look weird to me and maybe its just my eyes. but is the rear axle sittin a couple inches forward from center line and is the bed and cab tweaked cause from the last pic it looks like the top of the bed is touching the back of the cab and theres a gap in the bottom of the bed/cab area. like i said maybe its just me. :?

I would have to move the spring hangers back or take out that dump body. Around here the cops would have ya stoped to see what was wrong with the axle. My dad got stoped with one of my 89's and he told him to never put sand in the sander again or he would call the scale truck. Had 2 go buy a new 1 ton so we could continue to plow and sand.

I am trying to decide if I should put my trim back on or leave it off when I get my 93 project done. I like yours without,, but they look nice with also... Just can't decide.

Richie, leave it off, or get sticker type. The salt gets in behind and helps it rot.
Just my nickels worth. ;)

You shoulda heard it before we made the bumpstops. The right rear would really grind on the bed when hooked to the sled.
The truck is really bright now....you need sunglasses to look at it. 8)

If you paint the wheels black Bobby....I don't think I can help work on it anymore. :pukel:
