I speak from experience. I have late 2nd gen wheels on my truck and they are same backspacing as 3rd gens.

Ok, having done this on our shop truck, let me say its a serious PITA.

Best best would be 1 1/2" hub adapters that go from 1/2" studs to 9/16" so you can use the stock lug nuts. We went another route, tried everything we could. Problem is the front hubs use a huge knurl on the stud, and there are no aftermarket studs available. We wound up drilling out new holes and pressing in new studs. Still, we needed to use spacers. We have 2 ea 1/4" spacers there now, really need 3 for 3/4" to clear the front suspension.

So, basically, either spend the money on the adapters or buy some new wheels.
