Door Issues Whats New

Postby Diesel Dan » Fri Dec 26, 2008 12:02 am

Well i knew that i needed to do some standard dodge door work on the truck and finally looked at it today and it looks as if the door was over extended or over opened resulting in taring the metal on the inside of the door next to the hinge. i was wondering if anyone else had this problem and if it is fixable or need to replace the whole door. the door is in great shape so i would hate to replace it if i don't have to.

i think i explained it kinda and i will post pics of it tomorrow

Common thing. Mine was actually cracked inside. When the hinge went over the holding hump, it would make a snap noise. I had to weld up the end, and add a plate inside the door to beef it up.

Looks like a typical Dodge door to me. I'd have to think about how I'd fix it, short of replacing the doors. Involves a MIG and sheetmetal.

Yup, mine was cracked like that. I had over 1/2 a day in fixing it, but I went overkill. I removed the plate inside that the bolts thread into, and built a reinforcing plate to go under the threaded one. I cut and fit it inside, welded the crack inside and out, ground it smooth, welded the plate in, and put the threaded plate back. Lotsa work, but my door is solid.
