Door weatherstripping

I went to put new door weatherstripping on the fron doors of my 84 crew and it doesn't work right. It is Metro Brand sponge and says it fits 72-93 trucks. It fits the door frame great, but it is too think to shut the door. I can't even push it to the second catch. I noticed the original was glued in and had no metal in it. This stuff sticks over the jam and has like a metal spring to hold it on. Has anyone run into this problem before? If I take the weatherstrip loose in the latch area for about a foor in length I cn get it to shut all the way. The interference seems to occur where the plastic door panel is on the door.

When I bought mine for my crew I was told there are two different kinds.
"Glue on" and "clip on".... I bought the glue on, it worked perfectly. I know this is of little help, but it gave me an excuse to say welcome to the world of "crews" lol

I tried the clip on on my 89 as well and I can't shut the door on it either. It also originally had the glue on. I have no idea what this stuff fits but apparently it is nothing I have!! LOL Thanks for the tip on where I can find the right stuff!

I've bought the stuff from JC Whitney had good luck with it.. USed it on 3 trucks and no issues... Had to trim the window kits a few times but other than that it works good..

I got some for my (Rumblefish's) D350. Worked just fine. The door was a little stiffer to shut, but far from impossible. I got it from the Weatherstrip Store on ebay.
