where can i buy the fender flares/molding?

Postby oilcan64 » Sat Mar 07, 2009 5:59 am

HI everyone
I just joined the site b/c a friend of mine , Parker, anyways Im Justin and i just bought a 92 w250- heres my question i was wondering, after seeing several nice looking trucks, how is that there molding looks perfect, do they sell replacement ones anywhere, ill try to list a picture, also ill place a link, b/c i like the two tone but you can't really do it without the molding, it wont look right- so im looking for the plastic fender flares and the black strip that goes from the front fenders over door to the back of the bed?

I have seen people paint them back to black, and they looked pretty good from the pictures. If you leave the trim off, aren't there holes that will need to be filled?

some of the older vw jetta's ( around '88 to 92 ) use a dark plastic wheel lip / rocker moulding , and i know of many guys that have used black shoe polish to "spiff " them up .

haven't tried , or seen it done to a first gen , but i might give it a try on my '91 w150 this summer .

once you paint them , that is it ..... it's hard to remove the paint later .

if you do a poor job it looks like hell .
and being more of a rubber than a hard plastic i can see paint easily peeling even with the proper flex agents added to the paint .
'93 w250 .... stock ...
curently removing the dead moose parts ....
