fender mounting holes

Postby Farmboy » Wed Dec 09, 2009 11:16 am

On my truck, where the top two front fender bolts are, got pushed back about half an inch to an inch in the accident. Is there a good way to pull that back out, or would it be eisier to cut another piece from a good cab and weld it in mine. I borrowed a picture that i found on here to show you what I am talking about. Maybe if it is not clear enough I will get some pics of my truck when i go home tonight.

your in luck , my truck on the opposite side has the same problem .

i just asked my dad what would be the easiest way to pull things back into shape ....

what he told me was ,

take some 1/8" plate , cuts 2 holes in it that match where the fender bolts go into the cab .

weld a chunk of chain to the plate .

bolt it into place , and pull in in the opposite direct and angle that it was hit at .

how you pull it straight is only limited by your imagination , but you get the idea.

btw there should be a fair amount of play in the fender , and you can always adjust things with more or less shims , so it doesn't have to overly accurate

bs has a good idea! ;) You only need to get it close, because you can adjust it some. If you don't get quite enough, you can open up the hole on the fender a little too.

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

Thanks these all sound like good ideas. I am going to set the dog box up on there first to see how much it needs to move. and then I think I am going to try the plate deal. I can just park the tractor in front of the truck and put a come-a-long inbetween the two. :wrench:
