dash rattle...

have a new one here...2 days ago it started, driving down the road, it sounded like a rattle in the center dash area...like a ball point pen maybe rattling in the a/c passageways...then 2-day,it got more intense as i was braking...rolling along, it is every so often, but when i apply brakes, it's constant... release the brake, and it stops...i had my wife put her ear to the dash as i was driving and braking, and it sounds like it is in the center of the dash or slightly to the passenger side...i've looked under the hood, everything looks intact, nothing out of place...any ideas appreciated...1993 D 350...

the dash on my '91 has stress fractures all over it and is literally falling apart each time i hit a pot hole .

i wish it only sounded like a ball point pen rolling around inside .

If you open the glove box and push down on the 2 tabs at the top, it will fold down. Then you can look right in there, or have the wife listen again.

got tied up with replacing a front caliper 2-nite...will pop the glove box and have my friend drive while I give a listen...thanx for the input...will post results 2-morrow nite...thanx

well, my "temporary dash rattle" has quit...maybe cause of the cold weather down here, i don't know...never could see anything, nothing obvious...popped the glove box out and everything in good shape,nuthing hanging or broken...we'll see what happens...thanx for input...
